In November 2024, Al Marwan reflected its commitment to community well-being and cultural heritage by supporting the inaugural Tanweer Festival, an event celebrating art, heritage, and human connection. This effort aligns with Al Marwan’s ongoing initiatives, including sponsoring a free breast cancer screening clinic during the UAE's celebrated Pink Caravan initiative at Al Majaz Waterfront and participating in the dynamic Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival (SEF) 2024.
Tanweer Festival: Where Heritage Meets Modern Creativity
Held from November 22nd to 24th, 2024, at Mleiha, Sharjah, the Tanweer Festival provided a one-of-a-kind experience in a setting steeped in history. Mleiha, a UNESCO-nominated World Heritage Site, is renowned for its Bronze Age tombs, pre-Islamic forts, and unique archaeological discoveries, including pottery, iron tools, and ancient camel skeletons.
The festival envisioned and hosted by Her Highness Sheikha Bodour Al Qassimi, was a three-day celebration that transcended boundaries, bringing together a harmonious blend of heritage, live music, art, and cultural workshops. Attendees explored vibrant marketplaces, participated in enriching workshops, and connected with nature through stargazing, horse riding, tandem paragliding, and archaeological tours.
A Vibrant Musical Journey
The Tanweer Festival offered lineup of performances that celebrated global and local traditions. Highlights included the soul-stirring melodies of Sami Youssef, the rhythmic artistry of the Emirati Heritage Band – Al Nadba, the vibrant sounds of Senny Camara, the captivating performances of Mary Malifarges, and the evocative compositions of Ensemble Khourchid, among others. Each performance added a unique layer to the festival’s celebration of culture and unity.
An Artistic and Holistic Experience
Beyond the music, Tanweer captivated attendees with awe-inspiring art installations and hands-on cultural workshops. Visitors experienced the synergy between history and modern creativity, connecting deeply with the region’s cultural roots. Nature-inspired activities such as horse riding, moon gazing, and tandem paragliding added an adventurous touch, while the archaeological tours of Mleiha offered a glimpse into the area’s profound historical significance.
Celebrating the Spirit of Togetherness
The Tanweer Festival was more than just an event, it was a vibrant expression of culture, unity, and creativity. By supporting such initiatives, Al Marwan Group contributes to the preservation of traditions that define the UAE’s identity while inspiring new ways to celebrate human connection.
Just as Mleiha stands as a testament to the UAE’s rich history, events like Tanweer ensure that this heritage continues to thrive in the modern age. Al Marwan recognizes the role of cultural initiatives in uniting communities, fostering understanding, and creating lasting memories for generations to come.
