Every October, the pink ribbon serves as a global reminder of the ongoing fight against breast cancer. This year, Al Marwan Real Estate, operating under Al Marwan Group, sponsored a free breast cancer screening clinic as part of the UAE's renowned Pink Caravan initiative, held at Al Majaz Waterfront in Sharjah, across from DoubleTree by Hilton Sharjah Waterfront Hotel. This initiative, which ran from October 4 to October 30, 2024, provides a vital resource for the community, offering accessible mammogram screenings and educational lectures.
A United Front Against Breast Cancer
Al Marwan Real Estate's sponsorship of the Pink Caravan screening clinic reflected its strong commitment to social responsibility and community well-being. Pink Caravan, a breast cancer initiative under Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP), operates under the patronage of His Royal Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi and Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi. Since its inception in 2011, Pink Caravan has been a beacon of hope, reaching thousands across the UAE with its life-saving message of early detection.
In a previous show of support for the same cause, Al Marwan Machinery supported the 2023 Pink Caravan initiative, an event graced by the presence of H.H. Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, striving to empower communities in the fight against breast cancer.
Breast Cancer Screenings for Both Men & Women at No Charge
Early detection is critical in the fight against breast cancer. Through 8 fixed and 100 mobile clinics, Pink Caravan made screening services accessible to people across the UAE. This year, permanent units traveled across the country, stopping at key locations like Dubai City Walk, Majaz Water Park in Sharjah, Al Manar Mall in Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Qaiwain Mall in Umm Al Qaiwain, and more.
The clinics were staffed by dedicated professionals who provided free screenings and follow-up resources, ensuring that financial barriers did not prevent individuals from prioritizing their health. Visitors received valuable information on the importance of regular screenings and early detection techniques, empowering them to take proactive steps in monitoring their health.
The Pink Caravan initiative kicked off October month with a successful event from October 4 to October 6 in Aljada, Sharjah, where both men and women were invited to get screened for free. The mobile clinic saw significant engagement, with around 7,100 visitors. Over 1,000 screenings were completed, including 103 mammograms, 373 clinical examinations for men, and 524 for women. The event also featured workshops on cancer prevention and self-examination techniques, and visitors were educated on how early detection can greatly improve treatment outcomes and recovery rates.
Al Marwan: Standing by the People of UAE
By sponsoring such initiatives, Al Marwan Group shows its continuous support for the Pink Caravan initiative to champion awareness and accessible healthcare. Breast cancer is highly treatable if detected early, and campaigns like Pink Caravan play a crucial role in educating and enabling individuals to take proactive measures, moving closer to a future where breast cancer awareness is a shared responsibility and early detection becomes the norm.
